PRIVACY POLICY FOR GCDroid and WheriDroid
This privacy policy governs your use of the software applications GCDroid and WheriDroid (“Apps”).
As a 3rd party API partner of Groundspeak, Inc the user can interact with them using their Groundspeak account.
What information does the App obtain and how is it used?
User Provided Information
The Apps will store a login token provided by Groundspeak after the user authorizes the Apps to link with them. This token along with your cacher name is used for API requests as required by Groundspeak.
Automatically Collected Information
In addition, the Apps may use certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, your location, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile devices unique device ID and the current date and time. This information is used by Groundspeak when requesting their data regarding geocaches and your profile through their API and when posting data (such as logs) back to Groundspeak.
3rd Party Access to Information
Except as provided above, we do not share or sell information that identifies you personally or makes it possible for other parties to contact you directly or any information in general.
Does the App collect precise real time location information of the device?
When you use the apps, GPS technology (or other similar technology) is used to determine your current location in order to display your location on a map and to show distances to geocaches/wherigos. We will not share your current location with other users or partners other than to Groundspeak when required by their API, e.g. search for nearby geocaches. If you do not want us to use your location for
the purposes set forth above, you should turn off the location services for the mobile application located in your account settings or in your mobile phone settings.
What permissions does the App use?
Internet
The Internet is required to access Groundspeak and Google services.
Location
Location information is used as described in section 2 above.
Storage
External storage on the device is used for geocache Field Notes, GPX files, images, and to store internal information.
Camera
The device’s camera is used to capture photos for logs and to support the apps flashlight function.
Children
Our App is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy here. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
Your consent
By using the Apps, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. "Processing,” means using hand held device or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information.
